"Heliotrope Tulip Dreams" 14-3/4" x 18-3/4" Colored Pencil. Tulips are a precious commodity here in Maine, we're lucky if the deer don't eat them before we can enjoy the blooms. Purple tulips (my favorite color) are even more precious. I decided to "preserve" this bunch in a "bouquet" the deer can't eat;)

"Home" 22" x 30" Colored Pencil. Walking the dogs one day, I found this bird's nest (I think it's a Red Eyed Vireo nest) hanging at eye level. Birds typically have two broods a summer and this nest had already been used; the birds had left it to raise the fledgelings and eventually make another nest for the second batch of babies. I felt drawn to the idea of the nest being a well-made snug home; and even though a transitory one, it was a Home. Original available, Limited Edition Prints available, Note cards and Post cards available.
"Black Trumpet Beauties" 12" x 18" Colored pencil on mylar. Mushroom foraging is one of my favorite outdoor activities and is fun to do while walking my dogs when the weather is mushroom-favorable. Black trumpets are easy to miss because of their low-grow profile and how well they blend into the leaf litter, but once spotted, there can be a plethora of them. They are easy to harvest and to me they taste like an American version of truffles;). Original and Note cards available.
